Axcis are seeking to recruit support workers with adult only DBS's to work at in a home in Newport working with adults with a range of learning difficulties including autism, complex needs and dementia. The role involves getting the residents up, dressed, supporting them with manual handling and personal care, support with meal preparation, household tasks such as cleaning, shopping and maintaining their residency as well as support to do social activities and with any education or work placements they might have.
We have week day and weekend shifts available with the rota coming out two weeks in advance so you would know what shifts you were doing in advance. Shift patterns are long days from 7:30am-7:30pm or Waking nights 7:30pm till 7:30am. Pay rates start from between £10-£14 an hour. The home is easily accessible in central Newport and has ample parking.
We're looking for people with experience of working with people with special needs or people who have been carers. You will be patient, kind and compassionate working in a person centred way. You will be supporting the residents to be as independent as possible offering them choice and respecting them as individuals. If you have an NVQ level 3 in health and social care and manual handling training you will be at an advantage. If you don't have a DBS on the update service then you will need to pay for a new one which will cost you £46. We will also need a minimum of two references and you will need to come in for a face to face meeting which will take an hour.
