SEND Teacher, Swindon
If you are an experienced special needs teacher or have experience within a mainstream setting and want to further build your experience teaching vulnerable students then this may just be the opportunity that you are looking for!
Axcis Education are looking for a SEND Teacher to work with sixth form students with a wide range of learning difficulties, at a large special needs school in Swindon. This role is to start in September 2020 and full time. As with any teaching role, planning and marking of work is expected. Due to the way the school is run, teachers are expected to teach a wide range of subjects so that the same teacher is with the students throughout the day. Therefore this role will be well suited to a teacher who is comfortable teaching more than their specialist subject.
The school bases in north Swindon, currently caters to roughly 250 pupils with disabilities ranging from moderate and severe learning difficulties to those on the autistic spectrum. The school is fortunate enough to have great facilities that help cement learning and build confidence and independence in their pupils, including the teaching of life skills, sensory rooms and a working animal farm. The school has a positive and inclusive team, all loyally aiming to achieve the schools goals.
Due to the nature of the pupils at this school, we are looking for someone who is patient, able to confidently differentiate learning to cover individual goals and have a proven track record for attainment.
The ideal candidate will;
- Hold UK qualified teacher status
- Have experience working with special educational needs, either in a specialist provision or mainstream setting
- Good curriculum and subject knowledge
- Have a kind and patient nature that is approachable to students
- Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (if you do not have one we can help you in applying for this)
- Be organised and time efficient and be able to work to strict timetables
If you are interested, then please contact Lee Harris at Axcis Education on 0117 373 6127.
This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
