Axcis is working with a fantastic mainstream primary school in Frome to recruit a 1:1 teaching assistant to work with a year 6 child with cerebral palsy. The role is part time, two days a week Thursday- Friday and the hours are 8:30-3:30pm. This is a temporary role with potential to become more long term for the right candidate.
The school has a fantastic support structure and offers excellent resources for all staff that work there. The school is easily accessible via local public transport links and staff retention is excellent due to their welcoming atmosphere.
This position is one to one support for a child with cerebral palsy and you will be expected to assist with moving and handling as they have mobility issues. The role will include supporting the child during meal times as well as assisting with personal care where required. A professional manner and the understanding of how to build self esteem in others is also a must. The ideal candidate will be an experienced SEND teaching assistant who has worked with children with physical disabilities in a special needs environment.
