JOB LOCATION:

JOB WORKING HOURS:
Full Time
Axcis are recruiting for Support Workers to work in residential homes in Burnham on Sea. If you're patient, caring and empathetic we would love to hear from you. The six homes are set in 26 acres of land just outside Burnham- On-Sea. We are looking for staff who can do regular shifts, at least three a week. We have more hours than we have staff. Shift patterns vary from earlies (7:30am-3pm), lates (3pm-10:30pm) or you can do long days from (7:30am-10:30pm). You can have regular shifts as the rota comes out a month in advance. You will be provided with free training after a certain amount of shifts in MCB (managing controlled behaviour). Residents have autism as well as other needs and they vary from high functioning to non verbal. The role entails supporting residents with daily living skills such as eating, showering, getting dressed, shopping, cooking, menu planning, attending health and hospital appointments and with social activities. You will have to support residents with personal care and manual handling. The residents are supported to do as much for themselves as possible and staff work in a person centred approach offering residents choice and control. Residents regularly go to the seaside and into the local village to shops, cinemas, bowling, museums and galleries. Ideally you will have experience working with people with autism within health and social care settings. Those who have a health and social care diploma and experience of Makaton will be at an advantage. As the homes are hard to access via public transport links drivers will be at an advantage. Get in touch if you're kind, friendly and reliable. This is a great way to gain experience working with people with autism. We pay weekly on a Friday, a week in arrears. To work for us you will need to come in for a one hour registration meeting. After that everything can be done over the phone and via email regarding booking you in. We will need a valid DBS, if you don't have a DBS on the update service you will need to get a new one which will cost you £46. We will also need a minimum of two references. Many of our consultants come from health and social care background so we really do know what we are talking about. We really value our staff at Axcis and we offer a fantastic refer a friend scheme where you can earn up to £250 in high-street vouchers. If you are interested get in touch today to book in a registration meeting. This is a temporary position. If you are interested, then please contact Charise Clarke at Axcis Education on 0117 373 6127.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.

Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.

Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short-term and long-term assignments in addition to permanent positions.
