Axcis Education are working alongside a mainstream secondary school in Tiverton, who are looking for a full time special needs (SEND) teaching assistant (TA) to support pupils aged 11 - 16 years with a range of moderate learning needs in their resource base. Many of these pupils have moderate learning difficulties (MLD) and autism (ASD). The role is full time, school hours from 9am - 3pm, Monday to Friday. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to work in a small group or 1-1 basis. The role is ideal for anyone who has worked in a school previously supporting pupils with MLD or ASD.
The school has a range of resources including tennis courts, dance studios and a sports hall. The SEND department is split in to four divisions, each unit has a lead teaching assistant in charge to help all staff and pupils.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who has experience working with secondary school ages, as well as someone who has a caring, nurturing personality. As mentioned, this is a very busy school who support children with a range of needs including autism and MLD. The ideal candidate must be fit, healthy and enjoy physical exercise as the pupils are highly energetic and need frequent breaks outside.
If you are someone that has experience with ASD but no further qualifications, this is a great opportunity, as Axcis do have a range of training and courses available to enhance your CV.
This is a temporary position.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
