Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: St Austell
Start Date: September 2025
Daily Pay Rate: £89–£95 (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Temporary with a view of it becoming permanent for the right person.

Axcis Education are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team at a welcoming, inclusive, and enriching special school that supports pupils aged 2 to 19 years with a wide range of severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties. Many of our learners also have associated needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Social, emotional, and mental health needs
Sensory impairments (visual and hearing)
Physical disabilities (including wheelchair users)
Complex medical needs
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide tailored 1:1 and group support
Assist with personal care, mobility, and communication support where required
Create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes engagement and independence
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best outcomes for each learner
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
Ideal Candidate:
We’re looking for someone who:
Is calm, compassionate, and patient
Has excellent communication and active listening skills
Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Is confident supporting pupils with physical or medical needs
Brings resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset to every day
Previous experience in a special school or care setting is highly desirable but not essential for the right candidate with transferable skills and the right values.
