If you are an experienced special needs teacher or have experience within a mainstream school setting and want to further build your experience teaching students with special needs this may just be the opportunity for you. Axcis education is looking for a fully qualified Teacher able to teach science to GCSE to work with students with a wide range of special educational needs (predominantly autism) at an excellent special school in the Reading area. The role will start in ASAP and will be a full time position. As this is a teaching position you will be expected to plan and mark lessons and may be required to attend out of hours department meetings. Situated in Reading the school has excellent facilities and is housed in a purpose built site. The school caters for a wide variety of needs for students.. The aim of the school is to provide a suitable environment with a high level of therapeutic support and excellent teaching to allow pupils with autism to achieve their full potential and to make the most of their intelligence, focus and skills. Teaching and learning will be based on the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the National Curriculum Key facts about the school: -Specialists in teaching Autistic students -Caters for both primary and secondary pupils aged to 5 to 16 -The school has support from an educational psychologist, speech and language therapist and occupational therapist all based on site -The school teaches a differentiated /specialised version of the National Curriculum -There is high staff / student ratio -Purpose built school building You'll be joining a friendly team and will be supported every step of the way. You will need to be resilient, supportive and sensitive towards the needs of the pupils. This is a full time position, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am and 4.00pm The ideal candidate - Must hold a teaching qualification - Have experience working with special educational needs, either in a specialist provision or mainstream setting - Good curriculum and subject knowledge - Hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (if you do not have one Axcis can help you in applying for this) you will be provided with ongoing training throughout your role.
