Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Girls’ Secondary School – Tower Hamlets
£100–£120 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | ASAP Start | Tower Hamlets
Axcis Education is recruiting a caring, confident and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a high-achieving girls’ secondary school in Tower Hamlets, supporting students with a range of additional learning and physical needs.
This is a full-time, long-term position starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will work closely with students across KS3 and KS4, providing a mixture of classroom, small-group and individual support. Personal care forms part of this role, so candidates must be comfortable supporting students sensitively and respectfully with their personal care needs.
The school is a large, inclusive mainstream girls’ secondary serving pupils aged 11–18 and places a strong emphasis on ensuring students with SEND are fully included within the curriculum and wider school community.
About the Role
- Supporting students with a range of SEND and additional learning needs
- Providing 1:1, small-group and classroom-based support
- Helping students access lessons across the secondary curriculum
- Supporting communication, organisation, focus and independence
- Assisting students with personal care where required
- Supporting pupils sensitively while maintaining dignity, privacy and professional boundaries
- Following EHCP targets and individual support strategies
- Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider SEND team
- Helping students develop the confidence to become increasingly independent
About You
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who:
- Have previous experience as a SEND TA, LSA, Support Worker or similar
- Are confident supporting secondary-aged students
- Are comfortable providing personal care
- Have experience supporting pupils with SEND, additional learning or physical needs
- Can build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Are calm, patient and able to adapt support around the individual student
- Understand the importance of promoting independence rather than over-supporting
- Can commit to a full-time, long-term position starting ASAP
The School & Location
The role is based within a girls’ secondary school in Tower Hamlets, close to Commercial Road. The school is approximately an 8-minute walk from Shadwell station and around 10 minutes from Whitechapel, providing strong links via the DLR, Overground and Underground networks.
