Job Title:?SEND Teaching Assistant Location:?Richmond, London Employment Type:?Full-time, Monday-Friday (8:30?am – 4:00?pm) Salary:?Paid to scale Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to support our inclusive classroom environment in Richmond. Working closely with the class teacher and specialist staff, you will help deliver tailored learning experiences that promote confidence, independence, and academic progress for pupils with diverse needs. Key Responsibilities • Assist the teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons for SEND pupils. • Provide one-to-one or small-group support, reinforcing concepts and adapting resources as required. • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress. • Support behaviour management strategies, fostering a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere. • Aid with personal care, mobility, and communication tools where necessary. • Record observations and contribute to assessment reports. • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher communication. Essential Criteria • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics (grade?4/5 or above). • Experience working with children with SEND, preferably in a mainstream or specialist setting. • Understanding of SEND legislation (e.g., SEND Code of Practice) and inclusive teaching strategies. • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families. • Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding standards. Desirable • Level?2 or Level?3 SEND qualification. • First-Aid or Safeguarding training.
