Job Title: SEND Lecturers
Job Title: Lecturer for Students with Special Educational Needs (SEND) Location: College, Islington, North London Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time A college situated in the heart of Islington is seeking both full and part-time Lecturers to join their SEND department as soon as possible. This rewarding role involves working with students who have a range of learning needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, Severe Learning Disabilities, and Moderate Learning Disabilities. You will support these students in developing life skills, participating in gardening, and completing both practical and academic courses. Key Responsibilities: -Deliver lessons in life skills, gardening, and practical/academic subjects, ensuring they are accessible for students with PMLD, SLD, and MLD. -Support students on a personalised basis, adapting teaching strategies as needed to meet their unique learning needs. -Collaborate with support staff to create an inclusive, nurturing environment that promotes personal growth and independence. -Be flexible and adaptable, as lesson timetables can change according to students’ needs. -Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and monitor student progress, adjusting plans when necessary. Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Ideal Candidate: -Prior experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with PMLD, SLD, or MLD. -Either experience working with college students or a relevant degree and experience in education. -Flexible and comfortable supporting students in practical courses as well as academic ones. -Empathetic, dedicated, and passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives. -Familiarity with alternative communication methods (e.g. Makaton, PECS) is a plus. Requirements: A DBS check registered on the update service, or willingness to acquire a new one. Willingness to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and adapt to student needs.
