Job Title: Science Technician – Alternative Provision (Secondary)
Location: Hillingdon, London Hours: 8:30am – 3:45pm We are working with a unique co-educational Alternative Provision setting in the London Borough of Hillingdon, catering to students aged 11–16 who are unable to attend mainstream education. Many of the pupils have been, or are at risk of being, permanently excluded from school, and the setting offers a highly supportive, structured environment tailored to their individual needs. The school is currently seeking a Science Technician to support the delivery of engaging and practical science lessons. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with resilience, initiative, and a 'can-do' attitude who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare and organise science equipment, materials, and resources across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. • Safely manage and store laboratory materials, including chemicals and glassware, in line with health and safety regulations. • Assist in setting up and demonstrating experiments that align with the KS3 and KS4 science curriculum. • Support teachers with delivering project-based and inquiry-led learning activities. • Work closely with individual pupils or small groups, as directed by teaching staff, to support their understanding and engagement in science. • Adapt practical work and support to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students. • Collaborate with teaching staff and Learning Support Assistants to ensure effective lesson planning and implementation. • Contribute to team meetings and discussions on student progress and strategies for support.
