Job Title: Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants – English, PSHE, or Humanities Focus

We are currently supporting a co-educational Alternative Provision in the London Borough of Hillingdon in recruiting Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants with subject specialisms in English, PSHE, or Humanities.
This provision offers a supportive learning environment for pupils aged 11–16 who are unable to access mainstream education, many of whom have experienced, or are at risk of, permanent exclusion. The school focuses on building trust, resilience, and engagement through tailored support and a nurturing approach.
These roles are ideal for candidates with experience working with secondary-aged pupils, particularly those with additional learning needs or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. A resilient, proactive attitude and a passion for helping students re-engage with their learning is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons across English, PSHE, and Humanities.
• Prepare resources and materials that support differentiated learning and individual student needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to help pupils meet their academic and personal development goals.
• Support students who may present with challenging behaviour, offering consistent encouragement and structure.
• Work closely with colleagues to share strategies, monitor progress, and adapt support as needed.
• Take part in regular team meetings to discuss student development, interventions, and whole-school approaches.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• Experience working with secondary-aged young people, ideally in an SEND, SEMH, or Alternative Provision setting.
• Subject knowledge or interest in English, PSHE, or Humanities.
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, supportive approach.
• The ability to build trusting relationships with students who may struggle with engagement.
• A flexible, positive attitude and a strong commitment to inclusion and student wellbeing.
