We are working with a co-educational Alternative Provision based in the London Borough of Hillingdon. The school is seeking a committed English Teacher to join their Pupil Support Team. This role includes providing 1:1 tuition and outreach education for students who are currently unable to access the school site due to long-term illness or other barriers to learning.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and adaptable teacher who thrives in a nurturing, student-centred environment and is looking to make a tangible impact on the lives of vulnerable young people. For the right candidate, there is scope for additional leadership or management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging and tailored English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, both in-school and through outreach support.
• Provide 1:1 tuition to pupils unable to attend regular classes, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
• Effectively manage behaviour and promote positive engagement with learning.
• Build strong relationships with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour and complex social, emotional, or mental health needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Pupil Support Team to monitor progress and develop personalised learning plans.
Essential Criteria:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, though not essential with relevant experience.
• Proven experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3/4).
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Experience working with pupils with diagnosed or undiagnosed SEND and/or SEMH needs.
