Job Description:
We invite dedicated and empathetic individuals to apply for the position of Complex Needs Teaching Assistant at our inclusive and supportive educational setting in Wandsworth, London. The ideal candidate will confidently provide one-to-one support and personal care to students with a variety of complex needs, facilitating their access to a full and enriching education.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored educational support to students with complex needs, under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and Personal Care Plans.
- Provide personal care with sensitivity and respect, including toileting, hygiene, and feeding, while promoting independence.
- Foster a safe, nurturing environment that encourages pupils to engage in learning and social activities.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to assessments and reviews, collaborating closely with teachers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Utilize appropriate communication strategies, including alternative communication methods if required, to effectively interact with students.
- Assist with the management of behavior, employing agreed-upon strategies to promote positive outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in providing support and personal care for individuals with complex needs, preferably within an educational setting.
- An understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to the welfare of children.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with students, staff, and parents.
- Adaptability to work with different needs and age groups.
