Job Title: BSL Teaching assistant
British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth

Contract: Full-time
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join an all-through SEND Visual Impairment (VI) specialist school in Wandsworth.
This is a full-time role supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning, communication, and personal development throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils using British Sign Language (BSL) across the curriculum
Providing personal care, including toileting and hygiene support
Assisting with feeding and mealtime support
Supporting pupils during swimming sessions
Working closely with teachers and therapists to support learning activities
Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Requirements:
Minimum Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL)
Experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable)
A caring, patient, and proactive approach
Willingness to support with personal care and physical activities
