SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Role Type: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm.
Axcis Education is currently looking to recruit an experienced SEND teaching assistant to work in a welcoming and supportive special school in Rochdale. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and wants to make a meaningful difference in a nurturing school environment.
The school has a very friendly atmosphere and a highly supportive team. It is well regarded by staff we have placed there previously, many of whom speak very positively about the collaborative working environment and strong leadership within the school.
About the Role:
As a SEND teaching assistant, you will provide support within the classroom to help pupils reach their full potential. Your role may involve:
• Providing general in-class support to pupils and the class teacher
• Working one-to-one with individual pupils who require additional support
• Supporting small group activities to aid learning and development
• Helping students with communication, engagement and emotional regulation
• Assisting with daily classroom routines and creating a positive learning environment
Training & Support

• Non-verbal Communication
• Team Teach (delivered by our accredited in-house Team Teach trainers)
This training is designed to help you build the skills and confidence needed to work effectively with pupils who have additional needs.

• Experienced working with children, ideally with SEND
• Caring, friendly and patient
• Passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
• A strong team player with good communication skills
• Adaptable and able to respond to the needs of different pupils
