Axcis are currently recruiting for Youth Workers for teaching assistant roles in Newport, Cardiff and surrounding areas. We are an education agency that specialise in special educational needs and disabilities and have work in mainstream, SEND schools, alternative provisions and PRU's. Job lengths vary depending on what the school need from one day, to a few days, a few weeks to a whole term long. The school may decide to take you on permanently if you make a good impression and they like you.
We particularly want to talk to people who have worked with children from disadvantaged backgrounds and are unfazed by challenging behaviour and can remain calm under pressure. The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding and resilient. Those trained in Team Teach or MAPA will be at an advantage. Some of the children we support have ADHD, Attachment disorders, SEMH, challenging behaviour and ODD.
If you are interested in transitioning to teaching assistant work, we work with a number of schools in the Somerset area who are looking for people experienced in challenging behaviour and emotional behavioural disorders.
We offer a fantastic refer a friend scheme, great rates of pay and regular work. The hours are really nice usually running from 8:30-3:30pm, Monday-Friday. You will be offered training to support you through your own professional development by a confident and professional consultant. Many of our consultants have worked in the education or health and social care sector before; I myself was a support worker for eight years working with people with learning disabilities and mental health issues.
To work for us you will need to meet for a one hour registration meeting, you will need a DBS on the update service, if you don't have one on the update service ewe will need to get anew one which will cost £46 and we will also need a minimum of two references.
This is a temporary position.
If you are interested, then please contact Charise Clarke at Axcis Education on 0117 373 6127.
This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
Axcis is an equal opportunities employer. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.
Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short-term and long-term assignments in addition to permanent positions.
