Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Autism Support)
Location: SW8, Lambeth
Salary: £89 per day (PAYE)
Hours: Full-time, 8:45 AM to 4:30 PM
Start Date: September
We are currently seeking a compassionate and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Lambeth (SW8) this September. In this role, you’ll be working 1:1 with a pupil with Autism, helping to support their emotional, social, and academic development.
The school is well-resourced, modern, and offers a supportive working environment with dedicated sensory spaces designed to meet a range of needs.
Role Overview:
• Provide focused 1:1 support to a child with Autism throughout the school day.
• Assist with communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton
• Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning plans.
• Support the pupil’s confidence, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
Ideal Candidate:
• Experience working with children with Autism and/or other special educational needs
• Calm, flexible, and nurturing approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Child & Adult Workforce (or willing to obtain one)
• Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
