Axcis are recruiting for support workers to work in different houses across Bristol with teenagers with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health issues). There are six houses across Bristol and the teenagers live in groups of 2-6. There is the opportunity to do various shift patterns such as earlies, lates, long days, sleep ins and waking nights. The rotas come out a month in advance so you will be able to choose which shifts you have in advance and there is the opportunity to do regular shifts each week.
The teenagers all come from foster care; most have experienced abuse and trauma and many present with challenging behaviour. This role suits someone who is sensitive and compassionate. You will need to remain calm and unfazed by challenging behaviour and be able to be a positive role model to the young people you're supporting.
We're looking for consistent and reliable staff who are experienced in working with children or adults with special needs. Ideally you will have health and social care qualifications such as the diploma and safeguarding. You will need to be able to build trust and rapport with the teenagers quickly. If you're looking to make a difference in this world then this is the role for you. To work in these homes you will need to come in for a one hour registration meeting and we will need you to have a valid DBS in place and a minimum of two references.
Axcis can offer competitive rates of pay starting at £10.20 an hour and £11.50 for waking nights. We pay every week on a Friday a week in arrears.
This is a temporary position.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
Axcis is an equal opportunities employer. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.
Axcis Education is an employment agency offering temporary supply work for daily, short-term and long-term assignments in addition to permanent positions.
