Job Title: Support Worker
Support Worker Pontypool, Gwent Axcis Education work very closely with a specialist setting. Are you compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about making a positive difference in the lives of young individuals? We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join a supportive team at a college in Pontypool, providing care and assistance to pupils aged 16-25 with a range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Key Responsibilities: - Offer personalised care and support to students, ensuring their comfort, safety, and wellbeing. - Assist with daily activities, including personal care tasks, while respecting the dignity and independence of each pupil. - Implement individual educational and care plans in collaboration with educational and healthcare professionals. - Foster a friendly, fun, and engaging environment, contributing to the development and maintenance of positive relationships with pupils and staff. - Encourage and support students in their learning, social interactions, and extracurricular activities. - Manage challenging behaviour promptly and effectively, using appropriate strategies. - Facilitate communication and the use of assistive technologies to support pupils' expression and learning. - Monitor and report on the progress of students, documenting any significant changes or concerns. - Maintain a clean, safe, and conducive learning environment for all pupils. Qualifications and Skills: - Experience in a support role, particularly with young people with PMLD, SEBD, or SLD, is desirable. - Relevant qualifications such as NVQ or BTEC in Health and Social Care or equivalent are preferred. - A genuine passion for providing high-quality care and support to people with complex needs. - Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to build rapport and engage with young people. - Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults. - Flexibility in working hours, as the role may include a mixture of ad hoc and long-term assignments. - A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this position.
