Job Title: Specialist Learning Support - Psychology Graduate Opportunity
Axcis Education is proud to recruit on behalf of a specialist provision dedicated to supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This nurturing environment helps vulnerable pupils aged 5–16 rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and access a personalised education tailored to their EHCP requirements. We are seeking compassionate, reflective individuals – especially Psychology graduates – who are passionate about applying insights into behaviour, emotional regulation, and mental health to make a genuine difference in young lives. This role is ideal for Psychology graduates who want to apply their understanding of human behaviour, emotional regulation, and mental health in a real-world educational setting. It offers superb hands-on experience that is highly valued for future careers in educational psychology, clinical psychology, teaching, or therapeutic roles. Day-to-day responsibilities Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group academic and emotional support, helping pupils access a broad, balanced, and highly personalised curriculum (including National Curriculum, GCSEs, vocational qualifications, ASDAN, Prince’s Trust, Duke of Edinburgh, and practical life skills). Implement evidence-based interventions for emotional regulation, social skills, anxiety management, and positive behaviour – drawing directly on psychological theory and restorative approaches. Work alongside teachers, senior student support workers, therapists, and external partners (CAMHS, Educational Psychology, Social Care, YOT) to deliver individual support plans. Contribute to a calm, trauma-informed classroom environment where pupils feel safe to learn, take risks, and rebuild their confidence. Help monitor progress in both academic and SEMH outcomes and feed into termly reports and EHCP reviews. What we offer you The chance to work in an Ofsted-rated Good school with Outstanding personal development, where your impact on pupils’ lives is visible every single day. Excellent professional development opportunities, including training in restorative practice, SEMH interventions, de-escalation, and trauma-informed approaches. A supportive, family-like staff team with regular supervision and wellbeing focus. Competitive salary (aligned with local authority scales for specialist support staff) plus access to the Local Government Pension Scheme. Term-time only contract with potential for permanent roles. If you are a Psychology graduate (or final-year student) who is patient, reflective, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting vulnerable young people, we would love to hear from you. This is more than a support role – it is a stepping stone into a rewarding career helping children rewrite their futures.
