Job Title: Special Needs Teacher
Start Date: 5 January
Contract: Full-time
Location: Specialist School for Children with a Range of SEND Needs
QTS: Desirable but not essential
Are you a compassionate, creative and resilient educator who wants to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? We are looking for an enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join our committed team and lead a Key Stage 2 class from January.
About the Role
You will teach a small KS2 class of pupils with a range of needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Many pupils may experience challenges with sequencing, problem-solving, working memory, concentration and attention. Your role will be to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning that supports each child’s growth and celebrates every achievement.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver individualised learning experiences that reflect the diverse needs of pupils with SLD and MLD.
• Use a range of supportive strategies to help pupils with sequencing, working memory, concentration and cognitive processing.
• Create a positive, nurturing and well-structured classroom environment.
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider SEND team.
• Monitor and record pupil progress using appropriate SEND assessment frameworks.
• Build strong, effective communication with parents and carers.
About You
• QTS is desirable but not essential—your passion, adaptability and commitment to inclusive practice are what matter most.
• Experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a specialist or small-group environment.
• A strong understanding of strategies that promote engagement and learning for pupils with cognitive or processing needs.
• Creative, patient and able to build supportive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• A team player with a willingness to collaborate and continue developing professionally.
What We Offer
• A warm, friendly school environment with a highly supportive staff team.
• Small class sizes and excellent support from skilled teaching assistants.
• Ongoing CPD tailored to SEND practice and professional growth.
• A deeply rewarding role where you can make a genuine impact every day.
If you are passionate about helping children overcome barriers and achieve their very best, we would love to hear from you.
