Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Secondary Teacher to join our dynamic team in London, SW18. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing tailored educational experiences to students with a range of needs, including behavioural difficulties, speech and language challenges, ADHD, autism, and other conditions that may result in challenging behaviour.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, prepare, and deliver individualized lessons and activities in line with each student’s educational health and care plan (EHCP).
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
• Employ behavioural management techniques that are empathetic and effective, promoting positive behaviours and interactions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, social workers, and parents, to implement comprehensive support strategies for each student.
• Monitor and assess students' progress, adapting teaching methods and goals to meet their evolving needs.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and emerging trends in special education.
• Maintain accurate records and complete administrative tasks related to student learning plans, progress reports, and IEP meetings.
Qualifications:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a focus on Special Education.
• Proven experience working with secondary-aged students with complex needs.
• Strong understanding of the curriculum and differentiated instruction.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster trust and respect among students and colleagues.
• A patient, compassionate approach with a commitment to nurturing student potential.
