Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Autism Support – Primary – Tower Hamlets

Axcis are delighted to be working with a vibrant primary school in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism. The school has a welcoming community feel, a “Good” Ofsted rating, and a passionate leadership team who put inclusion at the heart of everything they do. With excellent transport links via the DLR, Overground and bus routes, this school is both accessible and supportive of its staff.
In this role, you will be:
• Working closely with children on the autism spectrum, supporting communication, social interaction and engagement in learning.
• Assisting with visual timetables, sensory breaks and structured routines to ensure pupils feel calm and confident.
• Supporting on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to build independence and self-esteem.
• Collaborating with teachers, therapists and parents to deliver consistent strategies aligned to EHCPs.
What we’re looking for:
• Previous experience with autism, SEN or working with children in a school or care setting.
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach with a positive outlook.
• Willingness to learn strategies such as PECS, Makaton or other communication aids.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children and staff alike.
