SEND Teacher, Mild learning difficulties, Cheltenham - Gloucestershire - Role: SEND Teacher Jobs
Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and experienced SEND Teacher to work at a specialist school covering Visual Impairment and other Complex Needs. This is a part-time role for 2 days per week on a Monday and Tuesday starting on 5th September until the end of the October term.
This role will be to teach a group of 10 students who all have VI of varying degrees, MLD and SLD. The pupils are aged between 16 and 22 and most also attend college and internships during the week. All students are ambulant and verbal. You will have the support of 4 - 5 Support Staff who will assist you to deliver high quality teaching sessions. Duties include creating a positive and passionate environment ensuring bringing fun and happiness in to the student's daily school routine.
During the morning you will be teaching life skills and afternoons on focused on enrichment. A large part of your role will be teaching students who are working towards ASDAN, NVQ or BTEC courses.
The school caters for young people with all levels of sight loss, multi-sensory impairment and a wide range of complex needs though their purpose built school and a specialist post 16 college. Based on the outskirts of Exeter City Centre on a large, purpose built site with residential facilities; the school currently has a roll of 50 pupils from the ages of 5 to 25. The school has good transport links and free parking.
With a good reputation across the South West and support from a dedicated group of Trustee's, this is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and determined SEND Practitioner.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Teacher with experience of working in a PMLD / SLD / Complex Needs environment. You will have previously taught students within the 11 to 25 age range. Having VI experience is not essential. It's important that the successful SEND
Teacher is innovative and engaging in the classroom to ensure the best possible outcomes to learners. Due to the complex needs of the students, you must possess an empathetic approach to the learners.
You will need to be aware of boundaries. The school wants someone to join them who can add value and make a positive impact on the children's lives.
