Job Title: Secondary Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is working in partnership with a SEND College supporting pupils from 11 - 16 years old, to recruit an experienced and committed Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 3 or 4 class. This is a full-time, term-time only role in a well-established SEND provision that prides itself on inclusivity, student-centred learning, and holistic development. The Opportunity: This rewarding position offers the chance to work with students aged 11–16, many of whom have complex learning needs. The successful candidate will be supporting learners across a structured and personalised curriculum, including: Core subjects: English and Maths PSHE: Supporting personal development and life skills PE: Assisting with activities such as games, athletics, and gymnastics Therapy sessions: Including support with hydrotherapy, where appropriate Citizenship: Encouraging learners to explore identity, values, and future aspirations The role involves both classroom and pastoral responsibilities, working closely with the teaching and therapy teams to ensure each young person receives tailored support and is enabled to thrive. The Ideal Candidate: Axcis is looking for someone who brings energy, compassion, and practical experience. The ideal applicant will have: Previous experience supporting students with SEND, ideally in a secondary or post-16 setting A calm and empathetic approach with a strong sense of initiative Confidence in supporting students during physical activities including PE and swimming Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff A flexible, team-based attitude and willingness to get involved in all aspects of college life Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA certificate) and training such as Team Teach or safeguarding are advantageous but not essential.
