Job Title: Humanities Teacher
Axcis Education is working in partnership with an alternative provision in Exeter to recruit a passionate and resilient Humanities Teacher to join their dedicated team from January 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who thrives on making a difference to young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, and communication difficulties. The successful candidate will deliver Humanities lessons to small groups of up to 10 secondary-aged pupils, many of whom have experienced disrupted education and are working below age-related expectations.
The school prides itself on providing a nurturing and supportive environment where every learner can re-engage with education and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging and creative Humanities lessons tailored to the needs and abilities of each student.
Foster a positive classroom environment that supports emotional wellbeing and academic progress.
Work closely with the SEN and pastoral teams to support students’ individual learning plans.
Monitor progress, provide regular feedback, and adapt teaching strategies where needed.
Contribute to a supportive and collaborative staff culture within the provision.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
Experience teaching Humanities subjects at secondary level.
Understanding of SEMH, SEND, or alternative education environments.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to teaching.
