Axcis Education are working in partnership with an Alternative Provision who are keen to recruit a PRU Teaching Assistant that is committed to educating and nurturing pupils with Social and Emotional Mental Health Difficulties.
This full time, long-term role is for an all-male class of KS3 and KS4 students. The setting is based in Torquay and will require candidates with their own transport.
This Alternative Provision supports students who come to them at various points of their secondary education due to a breakdown of their placement, whether through ill-health, behaviour issues or other difficulties. This leaves them frequently feeling negative about themselves and their future opportunities. The provision has proven capability in support the children to return to regular schooling or by completing year 11 at the AP.
The successful Learning Support Assistant should:
" Be resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
" Have a caring and compassion approach
" Understand the delicate nature of working with SEMH pupils.
" Have the drive to dramatically improve the life chances of students, whose previous experience of schools has not been a wholly positive experience
" Be able to provide evidence of successful experiences from working with pupils in a PRU/Alternative Provision/SEMH background
