SEND Teaching Assistant – PMLD
Axcis Education is working in partnership with a well-established SEND school in Ealing to recruit a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
The school operates across both a primary site (Greenford) and a secondary site (Northolt), supporting pupils aged 4–19. Staff may be based at one site or required to work across both, depending on needs.
This is a full-time role starting in May 2026.
The Role
You will be supporting pupils with complex medical, physical, and learning needs in a structured and nurturing environment. This role requires a confident and compassionate individual who is experienced in both educational support and high-level personal care.
Experience with hoisting/manual handling and feeding support (including PEG feeding or willingness to be trained) is essential.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with PMLD and complex needs
-Deliver personal care, including toileting, hygiene, and physical support
-Support feeding routines, including PEG feeding where required
-Safely use hoisting and manual handling equipment in line with care plans
-Assist with sensory and personalised learning activities
-Use communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, and non-verbal strategies
-Work closely with teachers, therapists, and medical professionals
-Monitor and record pupil progress, wellbeing, and care needs
-Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment
Requirements
-Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex SEND
-Hoisting/manual handling experience – essential
-Experience delivering personal care and supporting feeding routines
-PEG feeding experience (or willingness to be trained) highly desirable
-Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods
-Patient, resilient, and compassionate approach
-Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
-Ability to commit to full-time hours from May 2026
