Job Title: Maths Teacher - Pupil Referal Unit - Torbay (January)
Axcis have an amazing opportunity for a qualified maths teacher to work in a local pupil referral unit (PRU) in beautiful Paignton. We are looking for teachers with experience working with students that present challenging behaviour and may have some additional educational needs. The unit, that''s only a 2 minute walk from the town centre, also gained an "outstanding" Ofsted report in their recent inspection and have a lot to do with their local community.
The role itself is for a long term placement lasting for the entire spring term. As a Math teacher, the PRU will let you plan and arrange your lessons allowing you to put a personal touch on the education of their students. The unit is surrounded by woodland and right on the coast making this an incredibly sought after placement. Being a PRU means, due to the challenges the students face within the classroom, you may need to alter your lesson to accommodate this. You could end up using the picturesque surroundings and incorporate it into the learning making the experience for the students fluid and as enjoyable as possible. The students often come from trouble or chaotic homes so experience in working with young people in similar situations would be essential.
We are looking for individuals who are confident in their abilities to keep control of a usually challenging classroom environment. We need to you be a qualified teacher and have experience in running a classroom. All the students will be in KS3&4 and working towards achieving GCSE''s at the end of the year. With the post running for the entire autumn term, the students will be returning after the summer break. Being a long term placement there could be an opportunity for this to develop into a full time role for the right candidate. However being a long-term placement you have the chance to form lasting bonds with the students allowing you to create bespoke and effective lesson plans taking into account the specific needs of the class. This is a rare opportunity to put a personal touch to an already successful and effective PRU. Apply now to avoid disappointment!
