Axcis are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant who is able to lead literacy interventions in a secondary mainstream school. You will be general in class support in a KS3 class in the mornings and in the afternoons you will take small groups of up to six children out of class to help improve their literacy. The role starts immediately and will be going till the end of the school year. The school is situated on the outskirts of Newport so drivers will be at an advantage. The school is popular with many of our staff and there is an opportunity to be taken on permanently for the right candidate. The school has a large and modern playground and field for the children to play in. To be put forward for this role you will need to meet with myself for a one hour registration meeting. You will need a valid DBS on the update service and a minimum of two references We pay every week on a Friday, a week in arrears. This is a temporary position. This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.

Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer. The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS, full work history, references and a face-to-face interview.
