Axcis are working with a large secondary academy in Exmouth to recruit a passionate and skilled part-time Deaf Inclusion Worker. This role is to support a profoundly deaf pupil in year 11 on a 1-1 basis in mainstream classroom.
The Deaf Inclusion Worker will communicate through BSL and support the pupil to have full access to the curriculum to achieve outcomes equivalent to hearing children and to reach their full potential.
This is a challenging role that requires an understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of pupils with SEND. Qualifications necessary to fulfil this post will be BSL, preferably at Level 3 (or Level 2 with a commitment to achieve Level 3) and Cued Speech, or a commitment to gain a qualification in Cued Speech in order to support access to phonics and
Literacy through Cued Speech
This role is for 2 days per week from September to December 2019. Hours are 8am to 3pm. The pay rate is £80 to £100 per day.
