Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Behaviour Mentor We are seeking a committed and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support children and young people with behavioural, social, emotional and mental health needs within an alternative or specialist education setting. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about inclusion, positive behaviour strategies and helping learners build confidence, self-esteem and engagement with education. The role: As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work with a defined caseload of pupils, providing targeted support both in and out of the classroom. You will act as a positive role model, supporting learners to overcome barriers to learning, improve behaviour, and make progress academically and socially. You will work closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure consistent support and high expectations for all learners. Key responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs Support learners within the classroom to promote engagement, progress and positive behaviour Act as a role model, establishing strong and respectful relationships with pupils Support restorative practice strategies and positive behaviour management Monitor, record and report on pupil progress and interventions Liaise with teaching staff, SENCo, inclusion teams and senior leaders regarding pupils of concern Provide pastoral support and mentoring to pupils Contribute to inclusion, enrichment and specialist support strategies Support attendance and inclusion, including home visits where required Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and health & safety at all times Be willing to undertake positive handling training and use de-escalation strategies where necessary The ideal candidate will have: Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational or SEND setting A good standard of education (including English and maths) Strong behaviour management, communication and relationship-building skills The ability to remain calm, patient and professional in challenging situations A flexible and proactive approach to supporting pupils Confidence working independently and as part of a wider team A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people Desirable: Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs A qualification in youth work or a related field Experience using pupil tracking or data systems Positive Handling training (or willingness to undertake training) Ability to drive and carry out home visits This role is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS.<br/><br />If you are interested, then please click on the apply button and contact Patsy Boguzas on 0207 580 2956 | Ext: 1031.<br /><br />If you are not interested in this role but know someone else who might be, <strong>don&#39;t forget that we offer &pound;50 in shopping vouchers if you refer a friend to us and we place them in the job.</strong> For more details, contact your local Axcis office.<br /><br /><em>This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.</em><br /><br /><em>Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and as such we do not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other equal opportunities criteria.<br /><br />The company is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
