Job Title: Autism Experience Teaching Assistant
SEN Teaching Assistant – Islington Primary School (September Start) Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? A welcoming mainstream primary school in Islington is looking for a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September, working across all year groups to support students with Autism (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Role Overview We are seeking a compassionate and resilient individual to provide tailored support to children with additional needs, helping them engage with their learning and develop essential social and emotional skills. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys in a dynamic and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver one-to-one and small group support for children with SEN, particularly those with ASD and SEMH needs. Assist in managing emotions and behaviour, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies. Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to implement effective support plans. Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment where all students feel safe and supported. Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and carers. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance SEN knowledge and skills.
