Axcis have a vacancy for a teaching assistant at a well respected specialist school in Bridgwater working with primary aged children with PMLD, ages 5-11.
Rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, this fantastic specialist school uses a range of innovative teaching methods to help their students make the most of their educational experience. The school is small but well resourced and has a fantastic atmosphere upon entering the grounds. Situated in Bridgwater and with excellent links to public transport the school is easily accessible.
The role starts in January and is five days a week, full time and will go on till the end of the academic year. The position is general in-class support - you may be expected to work one to one, in small groups or providing general in-class support as required. Experience of working with children with PMLD is essential and you will be expected to do personal care as well as manual handling. Many of the children are non verbal and the ability to use Makaton would be highly advantageous.
If you are a caring, friendly and patient individual then this could be just the kind of role you're looking for. The ideal candidate will be an experienced SEND teaching assistant who has worked with KS1 AND KS2 children with PMLD in a special needs environment. At Axcis, we value our teachers and support staff and the hard work they put in on a daily basis. This is why we always offer competitive rates of pay to ensure that their skills and experience are recognized.

This is a temporary position unless otherwise stated.
Please note: The details of this job are correct as of the start of the school closures. We anticipate that there will still be a need to fill this vacancy either on the expected timescale (as many of the schools we work with will remain open to support SEND/Keyworker children) or when schools re-open. We are therefore continuing to accept applications but please bear with us as there may be a delay on the listed start date due to the fact that the situation is continually evolving.
