Axcis Education is seeking support workers to work in a residential environment with vulnerable adults with physical disabilities across Cardiff and surrounding areas. Initially the work may be on an ad-hoc basis but could result in longer term contracts. Due to the nature of the work, knowledge of manual handling would be of great benefit, along with experience in personal care, such as toileting, washing and feeding.
As a support worker, you would play a major part in offering the support they need to navigate their everyday lives as well as help them feel confident and comfortable to do things that they want to do at home. As well as the physical skills that such a role requires, a patient, caring and empathetic disposition would best suit this type of work.
Skills and Requirements:
" You will, ideally, have already achieved a Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (adults) or equivalent but this is not essential.
" You will preferably hold a current driving license, be able to remain calm in difficult situations.
" Hold an enhanced DBS certificate to work with adults (or child and adult) on the update service, if you do not have one we can help you apply for this.
" A can do attitude and be able to help wherever needed whilst maintaining a sense of professionalism at all times.
You will be providing service users with a structured programme of care, vocational, social and independence training, with the object of building up and repairing damaged confidence, and increasing their self-discipline and self-advocacy skills. In turn, enabling those you support to make better decisions and have a greater control over the direction of their lives.
