Job Title: Youth Mental Health Support Worker
Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting young people as a Youth Mental Health Support Worker / Teaching Assistant? This full-time position is based at a well-regarded secondary school in Broadlands, within a specialist provision supporting students aged 11–16 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs).
This school is recognised locally for its strong sense of community, nurturing environment and commitment to student wellbeing. Its most recent Ofsted inspection praised the positive relationships between staff and pupils, a calm and purposeful learning environment, and effective support for students with additional emotional and social needs. The specialist provision offers a structured, supportive setting where young people can develop confidence, resilience and strategies to succeed in school and beyond.
The role
• Support students aged 11–16 with SEMH
• Specialist provision within the school
• Full-time: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
• £13.70 per hour
• Starts ASAP, becoming permanent after a 16-week settling-in period
You’ll work alongside teachers and support staff to help students engage with learning, manage their emotions, and build positive relationships. Every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives.
Who this role is for
This role is ideal for local people, graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, teaching assistants or support workers who want to work with young people in a meaningful and supportive way. Previous experience is welcome but not essential.
What matters most is your personality, values and motivation. If you are patient, empathetic, consistent and enjoy building trust, you’ll thrive in this role. Skills from youth work, coaching or support roles — such as communication, encouragement and emotional awareness — are highly valued and transferable when working with students with SEMH.
This is hands-on, purposeful work in a welcoming environment where you can make a genuine, lasting impact.
