Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School – Tower Hamlets From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start Axcis are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to become part of a supportive primary school community. The school is looking for a proactive Teaching Assistant who can help pupils engage with learning, build confidence and develop greater independence in the classroom. You will be joining a collaborative staff team where teachers and support staff work closely together to provide pupils with a positive, structured and engaging school experience. The role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, childcare professional or graduate who is confident supporting children across the primary age range. The school is based near Aldgate in Tower Hamlets and benefits from excellent transport links via the Underground, Elizabeth line, DLR and local bus routes. It is easily accessible from Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Stratford, Newham and surrounding East London areas. About the Teaching Assistant Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils with classroom learning, small-group activities and daily routines. You may also provide additional support to individual pupils who need help with confidence, concentration, literacy, numeracy or accessing classroom tasks. Your responsibilities will include: • Supporting pupils across the primary curriculum • Working with small groups to reinforce phonics, reading, writing and maths • Helping children understand instructions and remain focused on learning • Supporting pupils who may require additional classroom guidance • Preparing activities, resources and classroom displays • Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and independence • Supporting transitions, practical activities and wider school routines • Providing feedback to teachers on pupil engagement and progress • Helping to maintain a calm, organised and inclusive classroom environment What We’re Looking For • Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or youth setting • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant would be beneficial • A positive, patient and proactive approach • Strong communication and teamwork skills • Confidence supporting pupils academically and socially • Good classroom awareness and willingness to use initiative • Experience supporting phonics, early reading or small-group interventions would be advantageous • A clear understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries • Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term position from September This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant looking to secure a long-term role in a well-connected Tower Hamlets primary school.
