Description:
Axcis are working with a specialist SEND school in Newham is seeking an SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and complex needs in a secondary-aged setting.
This SEND Teaching Assistant role involves supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties, including non-verbal communication needs, physical disabilities and medical needs. Pupils are supported in small classes with high staff-to-pupil ratios.
The role may include personal care and manual handling, so experience or willingness to be trained is essential. The school provides full training and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting pupils with PMLD and complex needs
• Assisting with learning, sensory activities and daily routines
• Supporting communication using Makaton, PECS or visual supports
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff
• Supporting personal care where required
Ideal Candidate:
• Experience as an SEND Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or Carer
• Experience with PMLD, complex needs or physical disabilities is highly desirable
• Comfortable with personal care
• Patient, compassionate and reliable
• Available full-time
