Axcis Education is looking for a caring, committed, and compassionate teaching assistant to support young children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants who are passionate about making a positive impact at the beginning of a child’s educational journey.
As a teaching assistant, you will support pupils in the classroom by working alongside teachers to promote positive learning and development. This may include general classroom support, one-to-one assistance, or small group work. We welcome candidates from both educational and care backgrounds who are passionate about working with children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support pupils’ learning and engagement in the classroom
• Provide one-to-one or small group support where required
• Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities
• Support children with additional needs, including SEND
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Help prepare learning resources and maintain a safe learning environment
• Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety policies at all times
Essential Requirements:
• Enhanced child and adult DBS registered on the Update Service (mandatory)
• Previous experience working with children (education, childcare, or care background)
• A caring, patient, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Desirable
• Experience working in a primary school setting
• Relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualifications
• Experience supporting children with SEND or challenging behaviour
