Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant – Axminster Location: Axminster Pay: £90–£95 per day (PAYE) Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday We are looking for a caring and reliable Teaching Assistant to support a school in Axminster. The role involves working with pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning, manage their emotions, and develop confidence and social skills. You will need strong behaviour management skills, a calm and consistent approach, and the ability to work effectively with teachers and the wider school team to create a supportive learning environment. Responsibilities: • Provide tailored support to pupils across the school. • Work alongside teachers and support staff to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities. • Support pupils in developing independence, confidence, and emotional regulation. • Participate in training sessions focused on SEMH best practice and behaviour support. The ideal Teaching Assistant will have: • Experience with children or young people with SEMH needs, either personally or professionally (essential). • A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach. • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships. • A passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. • A driving licence is highly desirable.
