Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant Location: Yeovil Pay: £90–£95 per day (PAYE) Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday We are working with a welcoming, all-through SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Yeovil that is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports pupils from Early Years through to Post-16, providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every child can thrive. As a Teaching Assistant in this specialist setting, you will work closely with pupils with a range of SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively in learning, regulate their emotions, and develop key social and life skills. You will need to demonstrate strong behaviour management, excellent teamwork, and a calm, patient approach to create a supportive and consistent environment. Key Responsibilities: • Provide consistent, individualised support to pupils across different age groups. • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to deliver engaging, accessible learning experiences. • Promote independence, emotional regulation, and confidence in every learner. • Participate in ongoing training focused on SEMH best practice and behaviour support. The ideal Teaching Assistant will have: • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, either personal or professional (essential). • A compassionate, adaptable, and proactive approach. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. • A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
