Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Weymouth, Dorset Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday Pay: £90–£95 per day Start Date: September 2025 A welcoming and nurturing primary school in Weymouth is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This role will focus on providing 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Condition and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and eager to make a real difference in children’s lives. An immediate start is available for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Deliver 1:1 tailored support for pupils with ASC and SEMH needs, adapting strategies to meet individual learning styles. Work alongside class teachers to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Contribute to a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages independence. Use a range of communication approaches to effectively support children with diverse needs. Monitor and track pupil progress, reporting to staff and contributing to review meetings. Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils manage their emotions and actions. Support classroom learning through preparation of materials, resources, and displays. Qualifications & Skills: Minimum Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent). Experience working with children with ASC/SEMH is highly desirable, though training can be provided. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with SEND. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently when needed.
