About Us:
The school is an outstanding special school that provides innovative education within a supportive, challenging environment for pupils aged 2 to 19. We specialise in supporting students with a wide range of Physical Disabilities, including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Complex Health Needs, and increasingly, pupils with Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD).
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to support pupils both in and out of the classroom, helping them access learning and develop key life skills in a safe, inclusive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons and therapeutic activities
- Provide one-on-one or small group support, particularly for pupils with high levels of need
- Prepare and adapt resources to meet individual learning styles and physical needs
- Support pupils with personal care and mobility as required
- Foster positive relationships to build trust, independence, and confidence
- Help maintain accurate records and contribute to planning and review meetings
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a special school or with children with SEND is highly desirable
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are beneficial
- Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills
- Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
- Willingness to support with medical and personal care tasks (full training provided)
