**Job Title:** Teaching Assistant **Location:** Congleton, Cheshire **Working Hours:** Full-time **Start Date:** Immediate --- **Job Description:** We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our thriving SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Provision in Congleton, Cheshire. Our facility is dedicated to providing tailored support to pupils who present challenging behaviors, with a strong emphasis on personal development and academic progress. #### *Key Responsibilities:* - Work closely with a lead teacher to deliver personalized educational plans with a focus on social, emotional, and academic growth. - Maintain a 2:1 staff-to-pupil ratio, delivering bespoke attention to students with SEMH needs. - Employ a variety of strategies to engage students with challenging behavior and ensure a safe, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment. - Assist with planning, preparing, and delivering structured learning activities. - Support pupils with their work in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. - Facilitate the development of pupils' social skills by encouraging positive interactions and implementing behavior management protocols. - Work collaboratively with other staff members to evaluate and adapt individual learning plans in line with students' needs. - Actively participate in team meetings and professional development sessions. - Communicate effectively with teachers, other support staff, and external agencies as required. - Help teachers manage class behaviors and implement the school's behavior policy. - Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers as appropriate. - Contribute to the creation of a stable, supportive learning environment that fosters a sense of safety and belonging. #### *Requirements:* - Relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant or similar role, preferably within an SEMH setting. - Strong understanding of the strategies needed to manage challenging behavior and support children with special educational needs. - Minimum qualification of NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent is preferred. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers. - Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing situations. - A patient, caring, and empathetic approach with resilience to handle the demands of the role. - Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). - Commitment to the school’s policies on safeguarding, inclusivity, and equality. #### *Benefits:* - Competitive salary. - A supportive and collaborative staff team. - Opportunities for professional development and career progression. - The potential for a permanent position upon successful completion of the temporary contract.
