Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant Cardiff, South Glamorgan Full-time Axcis Education are working closely with a well-respected and dynamic secondary school located in Cardiff with a strong commitment to inclusive education. To support our diverse student body, they have dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) bases where they provide a supportive and tailored learning environment for students with additional needs. They are now looking to enhance our team with passionate Teaching Assistants who will join us in September for full-time roles. The successful candidates will join their vibrant and collaborative team to provide one-on-one and group support to our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). They are looking for diligent and empathetic individuals with experience and understanding of SEND, whether obtained through previous employment in educational settings or personal experiences. - Work collaboratively with the SENCO, specialist teachers, and other teaching assistants to support students with SEN across various subject areas. - Assist in adapting lesson materials and strategies to cater to individual learning needs and abilities. - Provide in-class support to students, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can participate actively in classroom activities. - Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment that encourages students with SEN to thrive academically and socially. - Implement behavioural management strategies in line with school policies and individual student support plans. - Assist with the supervision of students outside of classroom settings, such as during breaks and lunchtimes. - Participate in school meetings and professional development sessions related to SEN. - Monitor and track students' progress, reporting back to the relevant staff and contributing to student reviews. Key Requirements: - Prior experience in an educational setting, working with children or young adults with SEND. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents. - A patient and reflective approach with a genuine interest in aiding students’ personal development and learning. - NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification is preferable, but not essential. - Enhanced DBS check (the school can provide assistance in acquiring this if necessary).
