Job Title: Teaching Assistant Support Worker
Are you kind, patient and looking for meaningful work supporting young people with autism and learning disabilities? We’re recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant Support Worker to join our specialist provision at a further education college in Radstock, starting in January — with the opportunity to stay on permanently after a 16-week settling-in period. About the role • Support 16–18 year-old students with autism and learning disabilities. • Work hours: 8:30 am–4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (half-day on Wednesday). • Pay rate: £13.70 per hour. • Provide hands-on, compassionate support during lessons and social times, helping students learn and thrive in a caring, inclusive environment. Why this is a special place to work The college’s Somer Valley Campus (near Radstock) offers a unique, rural-campus environment — including an Animal Centre, a dedicated Construction Centre and a Mechanics / Motor-Vehicle workshop. These facilities give students real-life, vocational-style learning opportunities — and as a support worker, you’ll help make these experiences accessible, supportive and meaningful. What we’re looking for You don’t need a long track record in education — we care far more about who you are than what you’ve done. Ideal qualities include: • A warm, patient and respectful approach to working with young people. • Genuine empathy, understanding and commitment to helping students reach their potential. • Motivation to support vulnerable young people in a supportive, inclusive setting. • Experience working with young people — perhaps as a graduate, youth worker, sports coach, support worker or teaching assistant. Local applicants strongly encouraged. Why join us You’ll be part of a caring team making a real difference in young lives. You’ll work in a welcoming, community-minded setting, where your values and personality matter most. You’ll also benefit from a structured 16-week induction period to help you settle in and succeed. If you want to do work that’s meaningful, rewarding and makes a difference — apply today to be considered for this role.
