Job Title: Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support
Are you passionate about supporting young people with autism? Axcis Education are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a student in a welcoming secondary school in Greater Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in a student’s daily school experience.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll support a student with autism throughout the school day—helping them access lessons, stay regulated, and build confidence in both academic and social settings. You’ll work closely with the classroom teacher and SEN team to provide consistent, personalised support that meets the student’s individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 in-class and out-of-class support
- Help the student stay engaged and focused in lessons
- Encourage independence and positive behaviour
- Assist with communication and emotional regulation strategies
- Contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment
About You
Axcis are looking for someone with:
- Experience supporting children with autism or SEN, ideally in a school setting
- Confidence working 1:1 and adapting to a student’s individual needs
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach
- Knowledge of Makaton and/or PECS is highly desirable
- Ability to work well as part of a wider team of teachers and support staff
