SEND Teacher – Primary – Barking & Dagenham
£180–£240 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start
Axcis are supporting a forward-thinking primary school in Barking & Dagenham who are looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teacher from September. The school works with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, moderate learning difficulties, speech and language needs and social, emotional or behavioural barriers to learning.
The school has a strong inclusion ethos and a leadership team that understands the importance of consistency, structure and personalised learning. This would suit a teacher who is confident leading a classroom, working alongside support staff and adapting lessons so that all pupils can access learning in a meaningful way. The school is easily accessible by public transport and also offers parking for staff.
About the Role
You will be responsible for teaching a primary class with pupils who require additional support to access the curriculum. The role will involve a mixture of academic, social and emotional support, with a strong focus on helping pupils develop confidence, communication and independence.
You will:
• Teach pupils with a range of SEND needs in a structured primary classroom
• Plan differentiated lessons that support academic and developmental progress
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants to deliver consistent classroom support
• Use visuals, practical tasks and communication strategies to support engagement
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour throughout the school day
• Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised targets
What We’re Looking For
• QTS / QTLS, or strong SEND teaching experience
• Experience working with pupils with autism, MLD, speech and language needs or SEMH
• Confident classroom and behaviour management
• Ability to lead a team of support staff effectively
• A creative, resilient and nurturing approach
• Full-time availability from September
