Description:
Axcis are working with a supportive primary school in Hackney that is seeking a primary SEND teacher to work with pupils with ASD and SEMH needs.
The class is small, well-supported by experienced teaching assistants, and pupils are working below age-related expectations. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and prioritises emotional regulation, structure and consistency over academic pressure.
This role would suit a primary-trained teacher with experience or interest in SEND, behaviour support or trauma-informed practice.
Key responsibilities:
• Teaching a small primary SEND class
• Planning differentiated lessons for pupils with ASD and SEMH
• Working closely with teaching assistants and SENCO
• Supporting emotional regulation and engagement
• Creating a calm, structured classroom environment
Ideal candidate:
• Qualified primary teacher (QTS)
• Experience or strong interest in SEND
• Confident supporting pupils with ASD / SEMH
• Calm, nurturing and consistent approach
